Nestled to the northwest of Barcelona, Montserrat, known as the "serrated mountain," boasts distinctive rock formations shaped over millennia. Today, it is home to a monastery, serving as a significant pilgrimage site for the Catalan community. Montserrat comprises the Sanctuary of the Virgin Mary of Montserrat and the Benedictine monastery, which, for almost 1,000 years, has been at the service of pilgrims from all over the world, who come to worship the Black Madonna, a Romanesque sculpture dating from the late 12th century featuring delicately carved features. With your ticket, you will also have access to the audiovisual center and the extensive art museum within the complex.The Montserrat Art Museum, presents an extraordinary collection, including masterpieces by renowned artists such as El Greco, Caravaggio, and Picasso.
The production of cava in Catalonia has a rich and deep-rooted history, dating back to the 19th century when sparkling wines began to be produced in the region. The Penedès region became the epicenter of cava production, and in 1872, the first official cava cellar was founded. Today, Catalonia is a world leader in cava production, with strict quality regulations ensuring the excellence of its sparkling wines.
Our private driver will provide you with directions on how to navigate Montserrat, what to see, and where to eat. Afterward, he will take you to one of Catalonia's most renowned wineries, where the expert staff will give you a guided tour, concluding with a delightful tasting.
